The Story of How Carevation Was Born
Early in her life, my Mum was diagnosed with arthritis. It’s a condition she’s fought through every day, and I’ve spent my entire life watching her manage it — doctor visits, medication regimens, difficult procedures, and the quiet challenge of living with chronic pain.
She’s faced it all with unwavering strength and determination. That strength — and the bond we’ve built through decades of care — is what ultimately led me to leave my dream career and build Carevation. I wanted to reimagine how caregivers — who play a vital role in the quality of life of their loved ones — are equipped, recognized, and supported in that work.
Over time, I stepped into the role of primary caregiver more and more: being her advocate in provider interactions, managing medications, navigating fragmented systems, and trying to stay organized. I didn’t plan to become her caregiver. Most people don’t. It just happens.
Even with a background in healthtech and product development, I found myself cobbling together spreadsheets, calendars, text threads, and paper notes — constantly worried I was missing something important.
There were tools for doctors and systems for hospitals. But nothing for us — the people holding it all together. That experience stuck with me. I didn’t just want to stay on top of the chaos. I wanted to feel confident handling it, and able to show up for my Mum and for myself.
Carevation was born from that need: to make the invisible work of caregiving visible, manageable, and shared.
I built the tool I wish I’d had — and I’m building it for every caregiver who deserves better support.
